A Jane of All Reads
(Formerly Life After Jane)

Life After Jane was started on a whim when I shared some book thoughts with a friend of mine and decided that I really liked to hear myself talk. The name is a reference to the incomparable miss Jane Austen, whose works once read and completed in their entirety, leave a girl at a serious loss as to what to do with the remainder of her life. Life After Jane is a life in which you just keep reading very good books in hopes that you can recapture the feeling you had when you were reading Jane.

“…and every now and again form very serious and respectable relationships…with vampires”

My reading tastes have changed considerably. As I’ve aged, my choice of book has gotten younger. I read mostly young adult (those with a hint of magic) and every so often I take a break and indulge in some historical romance (affectionately referred to on the blog as “books with naughty bits”). To better represent my somewhat incongruous choice of genres, I recently adopted “A Jane of All Reads.” As a primarily YA blogger, I have tried to caution readers of more delicate natures by placing a warning image on my ahem, more experienced book thoughts. That being said, when it comes to any of my reviews, I do not censor myself or the content of the book (regardless of what it is) because doing so would make me an asshole.

Pardon the language. You understand that some books make you want to cuss, so my book thoughts are sometimes dirty ones. They are also my perfectly honest opinion and I make no apologies for what I say about a book.

A few odds and ends:

  • My name is actually Laura but I’ve gotten use to answering to Jane. It’s not an insult.
  • Book blogging doesn’t pay the bills so by day I am a RN.
  • I can no longer claim to be a young adult.
  • I have a wonderful beloved who actually seeks out used and independent bookstores to take me to on surprise trips.
